The project started with a trip to the UJ Island to identify needs that could be solved through sustainability. The opportunity I identified was using the water of the Vaal Dam to generate power for the facilities on the Island.

I started by doing basic research of the Hydro power field.

Testing was a big part of the project, as I needed to show evidence of a working prototype and how it will work in the environment. Testing was achieved through physical models and a stepper motor connected to an LED.

The final outcome showcases a cylindrical design that narrows done to the end, this allows the pressure to rise in the prototype and in turn this speeds up the water flow insuring that the water turn the turbine blades to generate electricity.
