The aim of this project was to design a monograph around Sofia Coppola and her work as a film director. To offer a wide view of her work, we imagined a four-part book: a biography of Coppola, her filmography, her obsessions (the recurrent subjects in her films), and finally, the feminine figures in her work. We made a small square book, to have the feeling of a precious object. We wanted to get people into Coppola’s films’ atmosphere by using photographs and white in the page layout. We played on cut-points to give words more impact, since Coppola works a lot on dialogues. The filmography is emphasized by being printed on coloured paper. To conclude, we tried to create a precious, feminine and graceful book, yet strong and empowering, since that is how we perceived Coppola’s work.
