This is my image I created for the composite assignment. I've always had this interest in things that have to do with space or destruction, so when making this image I decided to use one of my favorite movies and create a new scene almost. Here we see the Tripod war machine as the focal point with meters and lightning, 2 of the ways that these aliens appear in both versions of War of The Worlds. Then there's a helicopter that got destroyed in mid air in the top right. This project required me to firstly have an idea that can be made several ways, it helps for variety of how many images you could possibly make. As for editing skills, I had to reflect the light from the lightning off the objects I added in the image, as well as shading them to make it seem as realistic as possible. I also had to get rid of any other background items that were in the original images of each component so that way I only got what I needed from them. Fun fact about this, the Tripod itself is actually a buildable model that someone took a picture of in their living room, and I added lens flares to the lights to make it seem as if this thing were alive and running. In the end I got this "World Ending" scene that just shows destruction and chaos as if these guys were actually here.
This was the next composite I made for the class as my midterm. As much as I have an interest for space and destruction, for more relaxing things I really like cities and skylines. For this image I used as many things I could that resembled a city, and not any in particular but just a made up one. With skyscrapers, and a train, these were two different images where the train was in some mountains and the city was actually cloudy. I had to be able to shade and "brighten" these components to match the lighting go the background sky I chose. I also had to create a shadow of one of the skyscrapers on the background to really give it that light effect. This was mostly done with the dodge and burn tools in photoshop. I think this turned out okay, not as well as the one I did before (above). I could definitely make improvements, but I'm, still happy with it.
This piece is very simple but also kind of complex in a way. It is a photo quote yes, and from my favorite music artist The Weeknd. The image used was him preforming at a music festival called Coachella, and the song he was singing was a very emotional song he made about a girl. As you can see with the lyrics from the song as the quote, and the expression on his face, it gives us a feeling of Melancholy which works perfectly because the EP he released with this song was called "My Dear Melancholy,". It's simple and I think the end result was pretty good, and anyone who is a fan would immediately understand this image.
This image was super simple to create however I can't seem to make something simple even when it's supposed to be as I tried to add juxtaposition to this one. The project just required us to put text over an image, which kind of describes our midterm. I wanted to try and make something work here where it's similar to "I invite you to leave" kind of deal with "Welcome to the Outer-City". Usually whenever someone welcomes you somewhere you're inside, where as this is the "outer" part of the city but in the end it didn't really juxtapose but I still like the outcome because you can read the text and see the image clearly and it was super simple but enjoyable to make.
