MIGRANT Magazine
Issue 01: Asian American
MIGRANT is a magazine that was born from the social issue that is circulating around the society. This magazine will covers the topic in regards of people and humanity. It is believed to restore the faith in humanity by bringing up controversial topic that is often overlooked and raise awareness of the issue to prevent further damage to the society.

Our first issue of MIGRANT Magazine will talks about diversity and social layers of how foreigners are deemed in other country they migrate to. The contents we provide varies from issue of racism and discrimination to acceptance of the diversity. We aim to have a more accepting society through raising issue as such by bringing up human rights and articles that would help people to understand better the roles the foreigners are playing in their country. In additions, we will give more insights to permit, passes and requirements for people to be granted a stay in a foreign country.
MIGRANT Magazine is based in Singapore and targeted to give more opportunities and easier access to deliver the message to the society as Singapore is a country that diverse in races and open to foreigners. We hope to be able to erase the social layers people tend to set with foreigners and spread the awareness to make a better and less toxic society to lives in.
The main idea of the cover is to illustrates the idea of abused rights of Asian in America. Thus, the use of a girl with distinctive asian feature and bruised eye. The cover also speaks for the tone of the entire magazine.

As for the masthead, it spoke to the concept of being “left out” or “discriminate”. This could be reflected through the way the letter i was placed in between m and g while slightly overlapped by them. The use of darker shade orange is to symbolise “shadow” portraying the letter i to be at the back of the word while the tilt to the letter could be a form of trying to get out or gain “recognisation” which could be relate back to my concept of discrimination and overlooked social issue in the society
Since this is a magazine about social issue, the color scheme I will be using will be darker. Mostly monotone or low saturated pictures will be use along with a bold yellow colors on top of it to give off a strong and blunt impression. It could also represent the discrimination with one bold colors popping out in the middle of monotoneness.

In conclusion, the tone of voice for this magazine will be distinct yet bold. Delivering a strong message through the common social issue that’s often been ignored or look upon through.
