The MSW program wants to train professionals to help amplify voices in community of the disenfranchised. The MSW program is trying to create brave spaces: a place full of real diversity that is about talking tough topics. They want to bring students together to talk about the real challenges that communities are facing in order to learn and be brave to amplify voices of the vulnerable; and want to have the tough conversations in the school so they can begin helping communities be brave and reduce inequities. For this particular campaign, the client wanted illustrations that really embraced diversity: gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, body types, etc.

I accepted this project because the brief empower spaces to build a communities that were really diverse. Sometimes the showcase of diversity is limited to some, and often brands forget to include more than one group. So I was happy to work with a team that understands the reality of an important conversation, and that is to include us all.

The project was for a digital campaign for the VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University), so the illustrations needed to have space for info and logos. To stand out among the content in social media and represent the VCU at out best, we went for yellow colors a base, I played with the warms tones to choose colors that helped to bring the diversity in skin tones, and also, add blue for contrast and fun, so I composed it with colors to guide the eye.
