"Reverie and Recall", a video by Debra Phillis, with music "Tomorrow", by Bensound
Cosmos
Once I had a reverie while staring at the surface of a country pond. A profound sense of peace swept over me as consciousness sloughed off and the Cosmos presented itself.
For time unknown I sat. Perhaps I slept.
After a while, I reawakened to my place in the surroundings and began to photograph what I saw.
I took many photos of the beauty, light, plants, surfaces and colour.
These images later acted as a mnemonic for me, yet I remained dissatisfied with their effect. They did not hypnotise nor did they displace concerns of the Every Day. But I could not let the project go. It was a Project of Passion. I was seeking to recall that sweet forgetfulness, that reverie.
Another visual form suggested itself.
Video.
I imagined a flowing stream of images set to music might lull the viewer into forgetfulness, becoming almost unconscious as images pulsed and faded, one replacing the other in a gentle flowing stream leading inducing a state of deep relaxation and finally, gently moving back to consciousness in the last few scenes.
To this end Lightroom's Slideshow feature was used to create Reverie and Recall, a short video which uses images from that occasion. At 4:55 it is just under 5 minutes and the calming hypnotic repetition and rhythm of passing images ebb and flow with the music Tomorrow, by Bensound. https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/track/tomorrow
I invite you to a reverie.
