Designing for Harm and Health
How Graphic Design had promoted and deterred smoking?

Smoking is a major health concern. However, this was not always the case. In the 1930s smoking was promoted as a way of looking cool. Cigarette packaging serves as a critical marketing tool for the tobacco industry, with colours and design often leading to misperceptions of risk.

The below images are mock ups for my practical outcome for my dissertation. The design behind them was to take well know cigarette brands and twist them into what they actually are. The text on the boxes contain section from my dissertation.
Marlboro - Murderers
Richmond - Poorman
Sterling - Sterile
Woodbine - Woodblind
Lucky Strike - We' re Lucky
