We wanted to create a game in which the progression of the player and the gameplay possibilities where linked to the environment. In Gaea the player masters different elements and can acquire special skills by placing crystal near specific points in the level. We made a character that was able to climb any surface to promote exploration and that was really slow paced to provide a contemplative experience. The video showcases the basic character with no power ups in a level that was divided in three parts. I made the first part which is a small archipelago that slowly translates into a dark cavern.
