One of our biggest projects for the ITS Department at San Francisco State University was a redesign of the SF State Mobile App. I was one of the leading forces to push for a block-like redesign using ModoLabs' Mondrian style, which allowed for a wider range of information to be displayed on the app in an engaging style.
Research
- Conducted user interviews and research to understand the pain points users were having with the old app organization and feel
- Researched other options to design layout options using ModoLabs
Design
- Experimented with different design layouts, color schemes, iconography, as well as the usage of Instagram/event feeds
- Worked with the emerging SF State template, as well as created new components and style options for template
Testing
- Tested the design and usability with student, faculty, and staff user groups
- Compiled research for department presentations and working meetings with our team's backend mobile developers
