《 UNDER THE DEEP BLUE 》

Anyone who sails, dives into the sea or just looks at it from afar, can hardly imagine how deep it really is!
When you cross the lighted waters of the surface and the oxygen-deficient areas almost devoid of life, deep down you can find the mysterious world of the ocean.
This was the beginning of my idea for this project. The exercise I set out was to illustrate what it would be like to dive to the bottom of the ocean and see the hundreds of colors, textures and shapes of marine life. Go to the only place in the world where the only noise is the bubbles of air released by the diving cylinder. Everything else, are the thoughts of each for each.
The bottom of the sea is 300 times larger than the space inhabited by terrestrial species. It is a place of unimaginable cold and shrouded in almost total darkness. However, the darkness is alive, filled with armies of fantastic creatures. Although this alien world is relatively more accessible compared to other planets in our solar system, the depths of the ocean remain virtually unexplored.
The challenge was set: to portray one of the fantastic creatures I encountered in this dive exercise.
I began by defining the outline of the image with the bistori. With gouges, I could continue to work; using the most appropriate size, I defined the shape in detail by opening grooves. With each tip format you get a different finish and accuracy result, which has been tested.
With the matrix finished, it's time to print. To do it, simply apply paint with the aid of the roller on the surface. It is important that the paint is uniformly spread all over the surface, but without excess. After inking the paper is placed on the die and a press is used to transfer the image onto the paper.
Once the necessary tests are done, it's time to start the final impressions. The results are characterized by their strong colors. The figures are flat and only the contrast of colors changes.
