ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

I'm up to the challenge and figuring out the most dynamic and cost effective way to design for whatever medium or size parameter. Much of my experience was developed as an in-house designer for the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. I worked closely with the curatorial and installation team to design and produce environmental graphics, text panels, way-finding signage all for dynamic user interaction.

Exhibition Wall Graphic: Repurposed scultpture materials into wall graphic for didactic information. Printing on wood proved to be a unique request, but my printer made it happen. Relationships with vendors is key. I designed and produced this intricate wall sculpture, logo and exhibition catalog.

Our client needed signage for the sales office that was well thought out, communicated the builder and lifestyle as well as could be designed and produced in just a few days. I developed a simple layout for the various sections of the office that would give it life and a professional cohesive feel. I worked closely with the fabricator and printer to make sure the files were designed, produced, delivered and installed correctly.

Teamed with curator to layout, design logos and wall displays and have all materials produced - on budget and one time (while using unique materials). I used the wall measurements and created a scaled schematic for the curator to see how the artwork would sit on the wall - literally. We scanned and reproduced many comic pieces and printed on adhesive material to stick to the wall. Since one artist designed a thousand different cells of content, I developed a way to enlarge specific cells, print and have mounted and then adhered to the wall. This exhibition created a unique visual experience.

REWIND, REMIX, REPLAY - DESIGN MUSIC AND EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE

Worked closely with curatorial team (from SMoCA and ASU) to develop, design and produce wall graphics. I designed and produced a giant dial of an iPod for the intro panel. The above image is a life-size timeline spanning a 50ft. wall, with plex dividers, milestones and custom "post-its" for visitors to leave comments. It was interactive, non-damaging and fun.

This new booth design needed branded graphics for the back panels. I used the renderings to scale my mid-century modern patterns and visuals. The ideas was to create a "living room" type atmosphere that simulated big picture windows. This booth was also paying tribute to California Deserts - an initiative proposed by Visit California. The back wall can hold a large tv or framed artwork and mid-century modern decor for greater flexibility. The side panels have interchangeable "window frames" for different visuals to be switched out.
