Flatland is a response to the ISTD 2011 brief 'Flatland'.

Flatland is a re-design of the classic 1884 novella written by Edwin A. Abbott. Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions is a story of a two-dimensional world told by one of its inhabitants, a Square, who is introduced to the unbeknown three-dimensional space by a Sphere. This contemporary re-design invites the reader to see through the eyes of the Square on his journey. The first half of the novella (part one) is a modern scroll representing a vast two-dimensional plane—a map of ‘Flatland’. The reader is then transported with the Square into the third-dimension ‘Spaceland’ (part two)— a pop up book. Both parts of the book are displayed in a modern form of a curiosity box, both worlds are captured and on display. This limited edition of Flatlandhas been designed to simply communicate a visual experience of E.A Abbott’s complex ideas.
