In my sophomore Design Principals class at the Rhode Island School of Design. We had to design a lamp in 3 weeks. Starting with a conceptual approach to this project, I explored natural environments, like forests and mountains. 

Later playing around with materials I choose wood and cements. After several mock-ups and tests, I discovered interesting methods of creating shadows. 

I made a mold for the cement base and inserted the dowels while the cement was still wet.
