Treehouse Djuren, by BaumRaum

Treehouse Djuren by BaumRaum
The Treehouse Djuren ("Treehouse" in German) is a project completed for the second Architectural Visualization class at Philadelphia University for the Interior Design degree curriculum. This project also served as an initial introduction into 3DS max for Interior Design students as well as part of the CABE (College of Architecture and the Built Environment) Cabin Competition, given and awarded to sophomores at Philadelphia University. I found this particular treehouse extremely intriguing, due to it’s interesting “egg-shaped” design, purposefully designed to enclose the visitor in warm, comfy environment. This is especially apparent in the square footage (68 sq.ft.) of the actual cabin, as one can tell just by the floor plan, that it’s only made for 2-3 people at a time. The fully natural element is also present here, and coincides well with my other projects. The Treehouse Djuren ("Treehouse" in German) is a project I found extremely intriguing, due to it’s interesting “egg-shaped” design, purposefully designed to enclose the visitor in warm, comfy environment. A simple material palette consisting of truly natural, local, and environmentally friendly FSC materials found around the site of the treehouse. Pine and walnut are the primary materials, along with glass and metal to clad and protect the exterior from weather and natural elements.
The finalized Plan, Section, and Elevation of the treehouse are below, slightly modified from the original design of the treehouse by BaumRaum.
Interior perspective complete with the quintessential Eames Chair and a custom modeled bench along the west wall of the treehouse. Large custom-formed windows provide expansive views to the exterior on 3 of the 4 walls of the treehouse.
Exterior perspective showing vast views of the landscape of central PA. Note how the treehouse is only artificially supported by 3 steel stilts, where most of it's structural support is attachment to an existing tree.
The final competition board for the 2016 CABE Cabin Competition denoting location, site, and a small description of the treehouse.
