Schlager is a musical genre which originally comes from Germany and could be translated as a hit song. 

In the Flemish region of Belgium Schlager is also called a life song(levenslied). Typical for this genre are the catchy and simple rhythms while the lyrics are pretty much easy to sing along. Common subjects of the songs can be love, desire and nostalgia. Every year 'fan tours' are organised in places such as Benidorm and Lloret Del Mar so devotees can watch their favorite singers perform while they're on holiday.
