An inspiring and unique project of interior design for a space of ARISTOTEL School for Public Speaking purposes. The space is located in a new district with a central location, Podil, in a 5-storey building.  Decorating of the space with Specific authentic Ukrainian folk decoration was the main part of the project and thus the main detail of the interior. The items are from the client’s collection - the director of the school. The space is designed white and minimally furnished to represent the aesthetics of Ukrainian folk village buildings of XVIII-XIX centuries and to satisfy the needs of the school as well. This also gives the main accent to the dark hardwood floor, simple wooden shelves, concrete untouched since the construction of the house ceiling, antique furniture, and décor elements. The white is like a stage for it all.
The scope of the interior was to create an open space (the partition was demolished) that served a perfect transformable location for different sized groups of the school – from 1 person taking a class individually to 25 people in the largest group. The washroom and kitchen were designed and installed from scratch. Original finishes (the raw brick wall) were kept and painted white. I tried to keep all the elements of interior maximally raw to soften them with antique furniture and décor.
In addition, this raw approach allowed to apply the method of minimal interventions and thus to save up to 30% of the renovation budget.
