"Os Patos" (Impressões de Minas, 2018), da escritora Flávia Péret, é uma ficção em formato de diário em que uma mulher, aconselhada por seu médico, busca contar a história de seu próprio corpo. Em outras palavras, "Os Patos" conta uma história sobre uma mulher que tem um corpo; uma história sobre uma mulher que tem uma vida comum; uma história sobre um corpo que passou por mudanças ao longo do tempo; uma história sobre escrever; uma história sobre como somos bobos.

A linguagem, ora ácida, ora bem humorada, é sempre super objetiva e simples — e essas são qualidades que o projeto gráfico busca incorporar. Mais além, o design teve liberdade para misturar-se ao texto, destacando certos trechos e até mesmo sugerindo (através de um picote) que uma página seja eliminada pelo leitor.
 


"Os Patos" is a fictional diary by Flávia Péret. In Brazilian Portuguese, the title of the book means something like “The Silly Ducks” (loose translation). Published by Impressões de Minas (2018).

A woman, encouraged by her physician, tells a story about her own body. In other words, "Os Patos" is about a woman who has a body; it is about a woman who lives an ordinary life; it is about a body that has changed over time; it is about writing; and it is, in the end, about how foolish we all are.

The acidic but spirited style of the text is very objective and simple — and these attributes guided the book design throughout. We can also say the design interventions frequently confuse themselves with the text, sometimes highlighting certain words and phrases, or even suggesting that the reader tear out one of the book’s pages.
