It used to be a Photo becoming in digital editing a Picture, the Photo buried
behind the Picture, the Photo replaces a sketch, a drawing - it is a source of
Inspiration its an end in itself.
The original Photo is intentionally edited in many sequences, layers to construct
and deconstruct/disassemble.
To start for an Artifact I have to crop the image of a person, create new layers for
the background to become a new composition of the picture.
I start to paint with numbers, observing the tonal values, the order of shadow and
light, volume, form and reliefs.
The original Photo is the Foundation or a Diagram of an project of icons.
Alike a painter or sculptor who first chooses a Subject before starting to work.
Thinking of the material, doing sketches, reworking the idea to come close to the
position concluding/finishing the picture or sculpture.
Since the Appearance of the Digital Era, Photography mutates in its materiality (?)
and diffusive Perception. The Artifact is a discipline, a crossing between Photo,
digital editing and Painting.
My Pictures would be in between Photo and Painting?
I cant say, I would like to give the betrayer the choice, make it accessible to the
people to find out.
