"Cinders" Thesis

Our thesis revolves around PTSD in teens and why adults shouldn't ignore or belittle its symptoms. Believe it or not, our thesis actually scored the highest in our batch! Sadly we passed it 3 days late so it was disqualified from the best thesis category.
This project was only done with 3 people. I was one of the co-animators along with Jose Reynaldo Magpantay, our main animator, and Jemuel Palomo who drew the 3rd and final story board.
Part of our hardships with this project was that we only had 3 months to make a 8 minute long animation and we still had to compose our own music. But I am still super proud with how it turned out.
I was in charge of collateral designs as well as character design and lyric composition. At first Mara was supposed to have short hair and an even more darker trauma.
The following are the first storyboard drafts I created for the first story draft.
The first panelists said that it was too stiff and a bit cliche so we opted to change it up.
The second story board was way darker with an open ending.
This is Amellia she was supposedly out first character but later changed her into Mara.
This is our teaser poster for the final thesis. It has a lot of foreshadowing going on as you can see.
This is Mara! From the start we initially wanted it to have a Tim Burton type of style and feel while incorporating our own. I think we pulled it off successfully!
The chart we used for our Powerpoint Defense. In this chart we showcased how Classical Conditioning Theory was used in our story.
This is a custom Powerpoint Template for our Defense!
This is Mara's little brother who we never really named hahaha!
Since it is a Music Video I created a CD cover for it.
