In addition to graphic design and illustration I also enjoy the occasional opportunity to DJ with a lovely bunch of people here in Vancouver Canada. In 2002/03 I conceived the idea of putting together a series of mixes based on a theme of the four seasons. Fast forward 10+ years and I thought it would be fun to create new artwork and re-release these mixes after slowing down the bpm to something more befitting of my current tastes.

 

Regarding the theme, given the fact that I live in Vancouver there is very little to distinguish the difference between Autumn and Winter except one is a bit colder than the other. Spring is much like Autumn except there is a lovely fresh smell in the air and so much vegetation is in bloom. In Summer when the sun is shining, there is probably no prettier city in the world than Vancouver. These illustrations are my attempt at fusing the visual influence of Swiss Design and the textural expression of Rothko as they noticeably parallel the grid structure and texture of techno and house music.
