Frankenstein Book Design

Frankenstein is a classic horror story following the life of Victor Frankenstein and many events following his creation of the “monster”. In slightly over twenty chapters, a series of events have passed throughout a significant amount of years for Frankenstein and the “monster”. With the story being very fast paced and time passes by quickly in chapters, this book is designed to help the reader better understand and process time throughout the story through the minimalistic us of lines and images.

Line breaks are used to help readers take a break and take in the information they have just read when a substantial amount of time has passed in the story. The lines for the chapter titles are to help keep the movement of the plot going. Meanwhile, the images of the book help push the feeling of movement throughout the book; whether it be still or continuous. The lack of color in the book design is to keep to the horror feeling of the plot and not distract readers from what they have just read. The text of the book was set in Helvetica type, with Gill Sans type for the chapter and page number, to keep the minimalistic and sleek look of the book.
