INTRO
Electra is a vibrant entertainer focused on being a positive and uplifting influence in the Twitch community while also providing gameplay at a professional level. We both felt that her mark should include the lightning as her name stems from the Greek goddess of the storm clouds, while simultaneously working in an aesthetic tailored towards gamers. After browsing through her broadcasts and building an understanding of her own aesthetic and personality (as well as becoming a fan of hers), I picked up my pencil and sketched up a few different ideas.
CONCEPTS
After updating her on the concepts, we decided to pursue the second idea as it had the most impact while retaining the concept's legibility. During the vector process, I approached the symbol multiple ways. One being fully freehand, only using the pentool. The second attempt was only using circles to bring natural, flowing curves into the logo. I ended up compromising between the two and using circles for the initial draft, then mixing it up with the pentool to bring a more personable feel to the mark.
Here's a photo of the circles I used overlapping the actual logomark. There are very minimal differences but it provides the symbol with a bit more personality, rather than being confined to a structure.
