2019 Calendar Design

While concepting, I thought it would be interesting and perhaps fun to single out how many of each day were in the year and more so, how many of each day were in each month. I played with the idea of structuring the calendar so that days of the week were on the side and the months were on top. I also played with the idea of putting in letters instead of numbers for the calendar. For example I would put in the first letter of each day that corresponds. That ultimately looked too cluttered and got confusing with Saturday and Sunday. Functionality and organization were a big part in my design process. I wanted people to potentially be able to use the calendars and be able to easily understand it.
I knew I had to delve deep into my mind map and come out with fully flushed out concepts to work the calendars around. I initially hadn’t done a real mind map, I had just written some words on a paper I knew I wanted to connect with this project. I got to mind mapping and figured out that the word city could be a great adjective to dive into to describe my project. Out of all the words I attached to city, I really liked the idea of my project being approachable, confusing and crowded, just like a city.
