Wes Hironaka with Bill Gregory and Duke Oakley
Integrated into the fountain design were inclined walkways to correct accessibility shortfalls and provide informal seating and planting areas. the concept was to create a place that would add to the University Experience.
Refecting pool, waterfalls and a celebration fountain have become an important part of the UCLA Campus. It's prominent position at the top of Janss Steps (centered on the main east/west axis between Royce Hall and Powell Library) completes the edge of Janss Terrace and strengthens the connection between the original campus buildings forming Dickson Plaza (Royce Quad).
