Enter the Roda offers an alternate perspective to the often stereotyped practice of martial arts, focusing not on the violence and physical aspects of the practice, but instead the more intangible relationships, dialogue and experience. The project consists of a series of webcomics, which are a collection of short stories detailing my own experience learning the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, here in Sydney. Though storytelling, Enter the Roda allows audiences to experience my martial art experience alongside me, and reveals the hidden side of martial arts practice in order to represent it in a more authentic way.
