Romford Leisure Cente

Architect responsible for a multi-sports project incorporating a 56x26m ice rink and 800 spectator seats above a 6 lane 25m pool and health & fitness facilities on a tight town center site in Romford. These site constraints have led to a stacked design and the resulting very regular, cost effective building plan. The building’s translucent polycarbonate cladding is conceived as a series of ‘fractured planes of ice’ and incorporates LED lighting to emphasise the effect, sat over a clear-glazed plinth which provides views into and out of the entrance hall, café and pool hall.
