A SCENOGRAPHY INTO THE ABBAYE

A SIGNIFICANT SCENOGRAPHY OF THE PAST OF THE ABBEY

The occupied site is the Royal Abbey of the small town of Saint-Jean d'Angély in Charente-Maritime. A scenographic journey in 5 stages is set up in the Abbey. It traces the distribution of buildings at the time, highlighting some of the most important areas of the Abbey.
- COURT OF HONOR: The course creates a forecourt that focuses the eyes of visitors on the facade of the eighteenth century, main building of the Court of Honor.
- THE ABBATIAL TOWERS: The platform in height is restricted in front of the two towers to favor the observation of the facade of the old abbey.
- THE INTERIOR OF THE ANCIENT ABBATIAL: Glass pedestals with information on the past of the abbey are arranged at the old positions of the columns of the abbey
- THE SAINT JEAN-BAPTISTE CHURCH: A stop allows visitors to imagine the grandeur of the abbey once (from the towers of the Abbey to the Church of St. John the Baptist).
- THE COURT OF THE CLOISTER: The elevation of the course offers particular framing and highlights the cloister as a place of various wanderings (at the time, the monks could circulate easily using the galleries).
