“Nomi Cose Città”: an exhibition born from the idea to combine two different visual art fields, illustration and photography, pushing them to their respective expressive extremes.
The pictures have been taken only in analogic mode by the Italian artist and fashion stylist Francesca Martorell (https://www.francescarafaela.com/) by using an Olympus Mju II camera, then digitalized and re-interpreted by the Italian illustrator Il Broccolo Volante through the only usage of a touch-pen and an App, directly on her Smartphone.
Their work tries to combine and mix two different styles and approach to art, making them coexist and blend in the same moment, in the same frame. The pictures bring us into a retro, vintage and warm world, while the illustrations remind us about the digital, social and mobile world we are living in, but — of course — with #nofilters.
The setting up for the exhibition of Francesca and Lara is a non-space where to experiment an ethereal jet-lag: it's about a travel that goes from the Berliner Berlin to the Spanish Barcelona, to Copenhagen, to Torino. Francesca’s intent is more of voyeuristic nature, like a Peeping Tom who wanders around in the middle of a party holding a camera, stealing shots of the guests and eternalizing ephemeral situations. But this is her party and the guests are her closest friends. And it's in this hedonistic framework that Lara's creepy monsters take their place: a warped point of view that is hanging in the balance between vintage pictures and digital characters. Real guests and illustrated avatars are party's mates where the displacement is both linear and vertical: you jump from city to city, from yesterday to now.

La Dolce Berlin is a presentation space, a Pop-up Gallery with a shop window and a room for you to stay in while you work on opening your solo show. We offer space to artists from around the world to collaborate and visit Berlin for a while. At La Dolce Berlin you can present your exhibition and/or simply relax and have an opportunity to wander through Berlin and get to know its lively arts scene. La Dolce Berlin is located in Wedding which is a home to a vibrant artist’s community. We choose this neighborhood because it hasn’t so far experienced the boom and gentrification of the 1990s in Berlin, therefore, there is still space for artists to showcase their works in a very familiar and intimate atmosphere. La Dolce Berlin is also connected to Art Aia -Creatives \ In \ Residence which is the headquarter of our artist residency program in Italy.
You are welcome to collaborate with Berlin-based artists and spaces, present your art in our venue, attend and interact in events that we do, meet a lot of people, get inspired and enrich the place with your ideas. We let people know about your work and your presentation on our website, via newsletter and various social networks. We also provide networking support the best we can. If you like we can also offer you the assistance of our internal art curator as well as our gorgeous wines to meet your exclusive exhibition.
We are a couple of theatre and film professionals as well as teachers and cultural organizers and basically, we are people that are interested in meeting other people from around the world. We believe that art can help to overcome the limitations and barriers place to communication still today, which in a way reduce imagination and creativity. For this reason, we are strongly committed to the promotion of exchange and collaboration between artists of various nationalities and backgrounds and we want to give them a possibility to show and sell their work in Berlin in a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere. We like to cook and drink good wine. La Dolce Berlin is also the place where we live and that we are making like a home and an alternative venue for art and culture.
