Mineral Rock Wall Hanging Design

I experimented with disolvable fabric, sewing distorted circles with a variation of blue viscose yarns.
Sea Blue, Rich Navy, Turquoise, Muted Greys, Shiney Baby Blue Viscose, Royal Blue Cotton.
By sewing a continuous circle onto felt, I created raised bubble surfaces to represent textured minerals. Then dyed and bleached to colour and fade the fabric.

I painted a water colour paint in shades of blues and greens as a washed background then added salt crystals whilst still wet so the salt dissolved and made a shimmering crystalised surface. Once dry, I removed colour using bleach in certian areas, and splattered PVA glue as another layer to create contrast between the washy water colour surface and the plastic transparency of the glue. Throughout this proccess, I related back to my photographs and imagery from my research.
