Keepsake Card Inserts

Keepsake Thank You Card Inserts
This was a visual design and marketing-related design challenge for Keepsake Frames. I went for a more casual, fun look that I believe is more in line to Keepsake’s brand positioning. Many of the background patterns I found online, so my work is primarily the layout and the composition of the various elements, image-editing, and white space laid upon the background textures and images. In addition, while text copy was provided, I rewrote it and drastically reduced its length by about 70% to fit the visual designs, marketing, and catch readers' attentions.

I used a lot of gold as an accent color because that’s the color I believe makes sense for photo frames, but this can change. The biggest challenge was finding the right photos and choosing the right fonts. In addition, I took liberty in rewriting the copy, because it was far too long. I rewrote it to emphasize only a few key points. A brief description of Keepsake being a small company with big dreams, an explanation of Keepsake’s value add (it makes photoframing easier), the contact email, and in a few cases, emphasizing that its frames were made in the USA.

Playful Casual Bordered Squares
I used a variety of colorful backgrounds with abstract repeating patterns (or a night sky), and paired it with a simple border. I wanted to convey a simple but playful feel to the set, which you can see with the illustration and font on the first two. On the last one (pink one), I changed the font to be slightly more elegant. A playful, fun feel evokes good emotions for people.
Casual Bold Patterns
I wanted to show a more casual look so because Keepsake is supposed to be accessible by normal people, and isn’t exclusive. I also wanted to show a bold expressive look to emphasize that people can express themselves through framing their photos with Keepsake, hence the bolder colors and patterns. This set has a more traditional card looking feel to it.
Text on Photos
I wanted to look for ways to showcase a photo of frames. It was hard finding product shots that I would use but these seemed to suffice. In photo backgrounds, there’s a lot more interaction and balance between the photo and text and how they overlay. However, it is a good idea to have one of these because it can showcase the product.
Elegant but Approachable
Since I’d made quite a few more fun, casual designs, I wanted to see if I could make something more elegant and slightly more luxurious without it being exclusive and off-putting. I used a more abstract pattern and full black or white backgrounds. I experimented with a curlier font on the white card to make it more playful and approachable. The black one is probably the most luxury-looking card.
Frames in space
I found some drawn frames and formed a pattern out of them. The drawn nature of it allows for a simple repeated color scheme and is slightly less serious. Since Keepsake is for normal people and isn’t exclusive, I didn’t want a feel of it taking itself too seriously. The frames emphasize the type of product without having any single product line in the shot.
