Paul Auster – 4321

This reimagination of Paul Austers »4321« picks up the unique concept of the novel itself, which is told in four versions, all tellting the story of young Archibald Ferguson. Book and design play with the thought of endless parallel universes and the realisation of missed opportunities.

Each alternative of the story is set in a different typeface, underlining the distinct characteristics of each version of the protagonist. To ensure readability, the typefaces were opticaly equalized in size.

While the typography stresses the change in charakter, the illustration focuses on the idea of mutiple versions of life. The concept sees seven rooms, each representing a given chapter in Fergusons life. Every room is drawn in severall variations for the different universes.
