Portrait of my grandma, 2009
She died this year, in January.
She died after 10 years of Alzheimer's.
I took this picture in 2009, when she already left her home and my grandpa for hospital. It's their sleeping-room: a reflection of the chair where she used to place her dress before going to sleep. The mirror is surrounded by photographs of relatives and holy cards that she started collecting around the frame just a few months before being admitted to hospice.
This has been her last mania: soon after she couldn't recognize anybody anymore.
