site pages for fictitious re-opened bauhaus school of design.

entry for #adobehiddentreasures #contest, using some of the cool refurbished font bits. here, alfarn and reross.

the design for the contest entries was supposed to relate to bauhaus design / principles / ideas; the limited colour palette, consisting of colours of the first order + black / white(ish) had been suggested  by the contest makers.
i decided to use primary geometrical shapes as key elements.
back in the 1920s, an ad brochure of the bauhaus invited young people to join the school.
the slogan "Junge Menschen, kommt an´s Bauhaus" has been the initial idea for my project.

what would it be like to study at Bauhaus University, today?
could Dessau, where the bauhaus school moved from Weimar (its first place of activity), be revived as a place for it?
what would be the subjects to study, and in what ways could the immersive approach of art, craftsmanship, science lab and industrial design be visible on the website?

along with some friends, we went to Dessau to dive into the bauhaus cosmos.
l-r, b-d: entrance bauhaus foundation. infamous stairs. window front of student apartments. meisterhaus. studio at meisterhaus. the kornhaus, situated by the elbe river, blueprint planning by Carl Fieger.
we were lucky to see some of the original plannings at a special exhibition focusing on his work while we were there.
next 1-3,
young people join the bauhaus. to be animated as changing landing pages or so.
on the "together" pga (with red square), I used a drawing by my grandfather.
another variation of the three teaser pages.
How could some of the bauhaus ideas translate to these days? they were progressively open for diversity  (this might be particularly true if you were male) and I am sure they would see that everyone would get a chance to study, so probably there would be sponsorships by patreons and grants by independent funds.
In my version, they would also be keen on designing long lasting products & carefully select the materials for building engineering in alignment with environment and climate.

the curriculum would consist of preliminary classes to understand process in craft and industry, there would be basic and multi-disciplinary studies on design, architecture, engineering and coding as well as masterclasses,  and workshops open to a broader public, to learn from each other.

i like the bauhaus culture of students and teachers engaging together in both work and celebration.
it reminded me of my first training at a school for breath, speech and voice teachers. we also had a lot of fun organizing musical and theatre events as part of the school culture.
basically, one could say, bauhaus school is like schlaffhorst-andersen, only for building and design.

the portraits of the instructors are edited pics of the hidden treasures font designers*.
if you have concerns regarding this, please let me know.
all other photography by me.

* l-r, b-d:
celine hurka (#alfarn / alfred arndt). flavia zimbardi (#joschmi / joost schmidt). elia preuss (#reross / reinhold rossig). luca pellegrini (#xants / xanti schawinsky). erik spiekermann (supervisor). ferdinand ulrich (supervisor). hidetaka yamasaki (#carlmarx after carl marx).
Dessau is not only interesting because of its tight connection to bauhaus, but also pretty beautiful down there at the elbe river.

this was my first go to find a concept for  website, and also the first time I used adobe xd. I wish I had some more time to make it function, create a mobile version etc..., but I suppose I need to go back to the bauhaus school of design.

anyway, if you actually are reading this, thank you very much for your attention!
I´d be happy to hear some of your impressions,
or comments on my beginners eye.
