Victorian Nursing Chair

Chair has to be striped, re-sprung, re-upholstered, and polished, the color of the chair is virtually black, this is because they must have just been re-finishing it over a dirty surface.
At the turn of the century and before chairs would be getting filled with what ever was available to them and in this case, the main stuffing in the chair was Hay
After stripping it right back we then went through the grades of sandpaper ready for a light Mahogany stain
Once the prep work was finished we then used a mop to apply the stain and using a rag to wipe any excess stain off after applying it with the mop
Once the stain was dry we then went on to french polish the chair
We then put new Webbing on then re-sprung the chair and then put the spring canvas
We can now move on to putting our coconut fiber on
then we move on to putting our scrim over the coconut fiber, then shaping the seat ready for the horse hair to go on
After we have put the horse hair on, we then get some Calico to go over the top and then tack it right round the seat
Now for the final stages we can now get our Wadding to put over the calico ready for the chosen fabric, we tack the fabric right round the seat of the chair then we put the finishing touches to it by putting the gimp on round the seat, we then put our Brass tacks on right round to finish the chair off
