Dodger Stadium Page Layout

The Dodgers are very near and dear to my heart. My family has a lot of history with the team and the stadium. When it was announced that the team was moving to Los Angeles from Brooklyn, my great grandfather jumped at the opportunity to become a season ticket holder at the new stadium.

To capture the specific time frame the stadium was built in, the late 50s to early 60s, I chose to design my page like in the aesthetic of Swiss poster design. Using a combination of soft and modular grids, I started piecing together my elements. Again, digging into the history, I chose Eurostile typeface since it was designed by Aldo Novarese in 1962, the same year that Dodger Stadium opened. Eurostile has a similar Swiss feel to Helvetica, but I think it adds a little more character of the 1960’s futurism/jetset age.

The colors were inspired by the Dodgers and the stadium itself. The Dodgers colors of course are blue and white, with a red accent that is only used on their jersey numbers. Of course this is repeated in the design of the stadium.
