Digital painting progression

My Digital painting progression over 3 days
I started to digitally paint, watched a lot of great stuff to get some tips and have a place to start. Had very minimal previous experience with it before this week. Only having done it once before and most of the other stuff being vector work and web based designs. But I felt it was time to give it a try and learn something new since I was bored of that.
This is the first painting I did, originally it was more realistic and based off an idea I had been working on for a story. But I ended up going away from that because it was boring and a big undertaking for my first try. Ended up taking 3 or 4 days to finish this up. Originally I was pretty ok with what I did. I especially liked the armor/suit, but as I kept going I really started to hate it. I was really hard on myself but took a lot away from it and applied it to my next piece.
This was my second attempt I did the very next day after finishing up my first piece. I went a bit more simplistic only trying to finish a head and get that right. I looked at a lot of other artist for inspiration as I drew it and I started to learn pretty quickly. Firstly I think the sketch was 100x better than the first which helped a lot. But my use of brushes expanded and I started to add more texture and get better at blending the colors. I didn't want to go too realistic, but also not too much into the cartoon/anime look either. Overall I was really proud of this one, I enjoyed it and the speed was the most surprising aspect considering the other piece took 3x as long.
This is my last "test" you could say. I thought with the new WoW expansion coming out I should do something based off of it. I went with an orc because I wanted to work on a male this time and Orcs are pretty cool in color and detail so I wanted something more challenging. This also took a day and was a lot faster than the previous one. I really like the colors and detail the texture and sketch brings. Easily my favorite of the 3 but also still needs work overall.
I plan on working on more full body work, probably even with backgrounds or multiple characters. Not sure what the subject matter will be but i'm into a ton of stuff so i'm sure something inspiring will hit me over the head and get me going.
