Illustrator to After Effects: The Unrecognized Talent of a Witch

This week I was asked to take on the challenge of creating something in Illustrator and animating it in After Effects. I was so ready for this! I've been studying After Effects a lot recently so I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to test it out!

I hit the drawing board and tried jotting some ideas down. Here were some of my sketches:
I knew I wanted to do something simple to test out my skills, but I also didn't want to get in over my head and bite off more than I can chew. It was a tough decision narrowing down my ideas.

A cool concept I always liked was the idea of a witch in training that was trying to move something, but in reality she was moving something else with even more power. I thought this was the perfect idea for my project! I went to Illustrator to start creating! Here was the rough draft:
After illustrating this cute witch, I saw there were a few things I wanted to change, such as the background color and the color of the apple. I wanted them to blend better. Other than that, there wasn't much that I wanted to change about the illustration. I went back to Illustrator and animated the scene in After Effects, and here were the results!
I'm pretty happy with the result! I'm no pro, but it was fun to learn more about Illustrator and After Effects. The things we can do with technology is so amazing!

This was a great experience and I am thankful for the chance to create with Adobe!

Thanks for checking out my project!
