The Deaf-Blind community, to communicate, uses big laptop sized devices or bulky keyboard, even so, the devices only translates the braille they input into words on screen. This makes it so that to communicate with someone , they would have to do a lot of preparation before hand. That causes them to be not able to socialize as well in the public context, such as when to go to public schools, meetups, cafes. The deaf-blind community too wants to be able to communicate easily with other people.
Dots is a portable device that translate speech to braille for the deaf-blind user and allows the deaf-blind user to input braille which will in turn be translated to speech for the person the dead-blind user in communicating to.
This product will allow the deaf-blind user to be socially able to a certain extent in social settings.They would be able to use the product and easily communicate better with people who have normal sight and normal hearing.
The program embed will be able to translate speech to braille and vice versa.
In today's context, we have google translate, which is able to convert speech, to words on screen and we have words to braille and braille to words program. DOTS program takes all that and put them together as a flow, so that speech, can be translated to braille and braille can be translate to speech.
Product is small at mobile thus able to be carried by user everywhere. It is like the smart phone for deaf and blind users.
Ergonomic variable chamfer makes it so that it rest on the palm nicely without causing any discomfort to the user.
