We are six trans and gender variant people from Namibia, South Africa, and the USA who sat down together in Cape Town to discuss our experiences with rejecting the very colonial, very boring gender binary.

In addition to being trans and gender variant, the group of us are also people of color (POC) hailing from multiple POC diasporas. So, while sitting around a plate of written conversation prompts I wrote up the day before, we also talked about how our cultures are inherent to our genders. And how some of us not only experience living in-between gender, but we also sit in-between culture.

These casual group conversations with old and new friends formed "Diasphoria: A Narrative Archive for and by Trans People of Color," a five-track EP that contains theory as well as community affirmation without the necessity for white cisgender academic structures to grant legitimacy to our status as producers of knowledge.
