Minca, Colombia '18 // Off the Beaten Path

Actually I only planned to spend 3 days in Minca but I already felt in love some hours after arriving and so I decided to spend at least 1 week in this beautiful tiny town perched on top of a mountain in the Colombian Sierra Nevadas. Minca feels a bit isolated with a population of about 800 people but it is only 45 minutes away from the much more popular coastal town of Santa Marta. I slept in a hammock in one of my favorite hostels in South America, Casa Loma Minca. It truly feels like a giant treehouse, with the most incredible view in the world right on its front porch. The free WIFI zone cultivate an awesome social vibe that I loved. The hostel is situated on a hill, a 7 minute walk above central Minca. It was such a peaceful place surrounded by nature and beautiful landscapes. Everyone gathers in the lounge to kick back and watch the sunset. Then just hanging out playing games, listening to music or reading and relaxing until vegetarian dinner is served at the shared community tables. Grab a hammock, bring a book, or just be in the moment.
