The Maori word for Autism is ‘Takiwatanga’ ~ it means in his/her own space and time.
Did you know adults & children on the Autism spectrum with sensory sensitivity wears noise cancelling headphones to block out noise ~ they are not rude or trying to ignore you.
The Toutouwai has a status of a protected endemic species & reminds me that we all have a story to tell, no matter how small we are....
