KING ABDULLAH II
HOUSE OF CULTURE & ART
Location: Ras Al-Ein - Amman - Jordan

Introduction: Ras al-Ein is considered a cultural hub in Amman.
It represents an interesting spine for the social life in the city; therefore, we designed the building and its different facilities to attract different types of people,to emphasize the social life in the area and creating an interesting artistic hub.

Concept: The concept of the design is inspired by the water spring which existed in the area, served as an essential source of water to the people living in the area. Applying the principle of the crack, as a result of the water spring, to the mass of the building for the cultural performing arts center.
The urban strategy pursues the maximization of open public space through extending an indoor plaza from the outdoor plaza.
linking the inside to the outside.
The public plaza is designed with different levels, creating a buffer zone from the street. The ground floor is designed to be mainly an indoor plaza combined with an art gallery and a restaurant, opens up to the first and second floor, creating an interesting interior experience to its users.
The first floor is where all the activities of the performing arts take place. Dancing studios, workshops, Music rooms & Recording rooms, resulting as a unique arts hub & emphasizing the privacy and the needs of to its users.
A concert hall of total 1600 seats is designed in the focal point of the site. Giving the building its own monumental presence in the area through the unique access to the theater and its connection to the different facilities. The total Area of the land is 20319 sq. m
The second floor is where all the management & orgaization departments are located. giving the floor plan its own unique privacy and working environment.
