Hi, I’m Alex.

Thank you for visiting my website!  I’m more than happy to have you here.
This blog is a place where I describe my two greatest passions: traveling and healthy lifestyle.

I was born in Poland, but for the last few years I’ve been in a constant travel around the world.

WHERE DOES MY WHOLE CONCEPT OF TRAVELLING COME FROM?
Travelling has been an important part of my life since an early childhood. Visiting many different places seemed to be quite natural. For all these years it has been taking different forms. There was a time for family trips, language camps, self-exploration, but also for studying and working in different countries. I have been on 6 continents and in more than 70 countries so far (check out my destinations here).

Professionally, I’m a psychologist, currently working on my PhD. I’ve always loved science. Especially, cross-cultural psychology was something that pushed me forward to another places. I wanted to know more, observe more and understand more about human behavior. I’ve been doing research all over the world and it was one of the reasons for traveling (have a look on section about Psychology).
I took part in student exchange in South Korea (Konkuk University in Seoul) and Italy (Universita degli Studi di Firenze in Florence). From that time, I knew that studying and working abroad it’s a perfect opportunity to explore the world. So I decided to go for more. I got government scholarships for my research in Japan (Osaka University), United States (College William&Mary in Williamsburg) and Australia (Macquarie University in Sydney). In the meantime I took part in many scientific conferences and projects e.g. in South Africa, California and Europe.
For last few years I had a chance to live, study and work for a longer period of time, among others, in the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Italy and Spain.

Regardless of whether it was a weekend trip or living for a year at the end of the globe, it had one thing in common: the feeling that my life is a continuous journey and only then I feel that I’m alive.

My family and friends have already accepted that I’m still somewhere and can hardly stay in one place for longer.  I don’t consider my travels as trips or holidays, but as a permanent lifestyle of living in different places all over the world.
I believe that traveling is the greatest way to get to know yourself and other people and to learn that there is more than one way of living.
HOW I ENDED UP AS A FIT TRAVELER?
Travelling a lot didn’t change the fact that I’m crazy about sport and healthy food.Being active has been my way of life since I was a kid. I started dancing when I was 5 years old.
For 18 years I have been dancing in various dance groups, especially Polish national dance, salsa, samba Brazil.

When I moved abroad to study I couldn’t participate in dance trainings and performances on the regular basis.
Quite soon I have discovered functional training, crossfit and running (especially running in the new, exotic places is my thing :) ).

At first, I was looking for a substitute for dancing but they have become my new passion very quickly.

I also like to try new activities in places where I’m staying, like Muay Thai in Thailandhorse riding in New Zealand  or trekking on Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina. Anything that may be exciting and challenging.
I often hear that keeping fit doesn’t go hand in hand with traveling. However, when I began to combine these two spheres, I didn’t know that it’s impossible, so I simply did it ;) And you know what?
I somehow managed. People often ask me how to find time, place, motivation to exercise and how to eat healthy food without skipping a local cuisine. I’m telling you that it’s all possible if you choose smart. I’ve been on the road for the last few years and not taking care about my body for so long wasn’t an option.
That’s why I decided neither to give up travelling nor keeping fit and simply combining them in everyday functioning.
I’ve decided to share my story with others, who would like to start to explore the world without loosing their other passions.
On the blog I share my observations and impressions about the places where I live or visit (check out more here) as well as some thoughts about healthy lifestyle (click here and here) while traveling.

You are more than welcome to join my world where travel and active lifestyle are equal and support each other everyday :) (find some inspiration here)
