Creative Freedom Short Film

Something powerful is brewing in Nelson Mandela Bay. With creativity flourishing in every corner of the city, Gerard Wowie Addison, founder of Colours of You South Africa set out to capture it all on film. After bringing out some of the Bay's best artists, Gerard launched a short film that captures the essence of the city’s creative talent.

Titled Creative Freedom, the inspirational short film directed by Gerard Addison, follows a vast group of artists within Nelson Mandela Bay, aiming to recognise creative excellence, showcase the city’s creative pulse, and to ignite the artistic spirit within the city’s youth.

From script to soundtrack, Creative Freedom is a 100% Nelson Mandela Bay produced film. It gives viewers a first-hand taste of the amazing work from some of the Port Elizabeth arts community. But it doesn’t stop there, the film also incorporates other forms of expression, including hip-hop dancing, skateboarding, and fashion design.

The takeaway from it all was an overwhelming sense of authenticity. These are people
who have creativity woven into every fibre of their being. You can see it in the light of their eyes, the expression on their faces, and the wonders they create with their hands and hearts. It deserves to be shared with the world, and that is precisely what motivated Colours of You to capture it on film.
