Wasting by Charlotte Beal, 2014

Buy, consume, throw away, repeat. We live in a throw-away society. We buy packaged goods that we use once and later throw away the packaging without thinking about the harm it does to our planet. Wasting highlights and critiques throw-away culture. For this project, I collected trash from three trash cans on Carleton College's campus. As the trash hits the floor, it melts and fractures in small pieces, showing the toxic relationship between trash and earth.
