Pink Floyd The Wall - Movie Poster Re-Interpretation

Group work done by Zarina Pérez - Ariana Rodríguez - and me. For our teacher Adriano Villegas.
Original work done by Alan Parker.
The original poster is a magnificent artwork, with a very surreal/expressionist style. With the purpose of representing one of the main feelings from the movie; despair. It's raw, straightforward and beautifully aesthetic.

Much more richer in semiologic meanings, but not the focus of this project as of now. Still, a wonderful masterpiece that faithfully represents the movie.

So, how will we be able to go beyond that? That was the main issue.
Key scene in the movie. Past self and Future self meet up.
We chose this scene as the generator for our own concept. Duality, Past and Future. Cause and consequence. The clash between objective reality and subjective reality.

It was decided that we would split this image into two poster. They can work on their own, but they can work put together as well. The left side is meant to uphold the reality of a naive child growing up to an adult, lost in the twisted world of his mind.

Therefore, the right side was crafted into an illustration. In that way we could use several of the surreal imagery, contained into the movie.

Both aspects of the movie were showcased, the realistic live action footage and the animation scenes with iconic visuals.
The drawing of the Adult Pink.
The technique is a combination of ink, and color pencils. With a bit of water brushed on top, helping to create a semi-watercolor aesthetic. Paying homage to the original poster.

Later this was scanned, in order to be digitalized and photoshopped
