Folkloric Fantasy . Anthropologie Winter 2013 Concept

This project, also for Anthropologie, is a rich, folkloric & craft inspired collection for Contemporary women who are looking for something with an authentic craft touch. I wanted this to be all about a rich but tight palette for winter with pops of stunning bold colors to keep it vibrant & exciting.
Fabrics are a mix of rich textures such as devores, modern micro jacquards, sequinned chiffons & jerseys that complement the silks, lightweight & flyaway to drapey CDCs, drapey rayon & silk blend jerseys and pote di romas for more structured shapes. Wool and cotton blends and satin looks feel right for statement solid & printed pant shapes, slim & cropped or wide & draped. Knits range from sexy lightweight & embellished shell shapes and textured rayon & silk cashmere blends, with touches of shine.
Prints are inspried by Folk & traditional textiles along with decorative floral & geometric patterns, all with an eclectic feel. Embroideries, ikat, border & engineered prints & embellishments, intarsias are all ispired by those authentic flavours but often in quite simple & purist shapes. Tonality is an important part of this embellishment.
Berry, jewell and rich mahogany tones with hints of fuschia, deep orange & cerise.
Deep navy, royal blues, cobalt and some softer indigo & slate blues mix with lavender tones sit with winter whites
Mustard, burnt siennas, old gold, antique rose gold, terracottas are complemented with black and pops of coral & lilac.
Black, winter whites, soft creams, natural beige & cosmetic tones with a hint of soft pale grey make for an important transitional part of the palette.
