In an effort to be more transparent in our communications within the Ohio Department of Transportation, our Information Technology department decided to host a conference for internal employees to get an idea of what kinds of projects they are working on and new technologies are on the horizon for the agency.

Being that this is the first annual conference like this that we have done, all branding and design began from scratch. Focusing heavily on keeping all content digital and appealing for the audience, an interactive design would be ideal. Utilizing Adobe Illustrator CC to create the logo icons and background and Adobe InDesign CC for layout, this allowed for the perfect design for a mobile application.

Wanting a simple and modern design, it was necessary to keep the design clean and make the images pop right off the page. The icons were designed to give a visual to each of the three values that the conference was going to focus on that could be used both with and without their respective verb. They were also designed that both 'connect' and 'collaborate' could be used interchangeably. 

Most everything on the home page was designed to be clickable and linked to other pages. The icons each link to pages that go into more detail about the subject and why it is important. The schedule, workshops and tracks were also linked to pages where they would display the corresponding outlines. 

Overall, this application was ideal for our Information Technology department because it gave the conference great fluidity. It allowed for employees to check out and find information quickly and efficiently on their phones rather than messing around with a printed booklet as we have used in other conferences at our agency.
