This group of paintings were done over the course of several years; some were commissioned illustrations and others were my own idea, yet all were inspired by ancient Chinese and Japanese art. I paint primarily with transparent watercolor and ink. First I use ink and brush to make a flowing, calligraphic drawing. Then I add muted, harmonious watercolors, creating a sense of grace and serenity.
