Baltimore Art Rising / Pretty Little Bird
The Baltimore Art Rising project is a collaboration between spoken-word poets and graphic design students. The poem Pretty Little Bird was written by a high school student and meant to be spoken aloud. I created a typographic poster that translated the message of the poem into an expressive, visual piece.
The design of the poster was created by manipulating text manually and digitally. The black layer of text was achieved by crumpling up a design printed on paper and scanning it in to flatten the image. The colorful layer of the text was manipulated digitally in Illustrator.
